Fantasy X-Men

Decided to show off some old work. Back in 98 when Wizard magazine was a thing they used to do monthly art contests. I participated in quite a few back in those days. In this case they wanted to see the X-Men redone in a fantasy setting (I think Battlechasers was a big deal at the time). Well this was my take. As you can see this was loooong before I started working digitally. Its one of my better pieces from back then I think. It sure is interesting to take a look back and disect my old art. I think I'll post of more of these for everyone to enjoy. 

So in this case Phoenix is a valkyrie 
Storm a sorceress 
Nightcrawler is a thief
Colossus an iron golem
Wolverine, Beast and Marrow are all pretty much barbarians of some sort
